RECOMMENDED: To improve email deliverability and prevent emails from going into spam/junk email, we strongly recommend activating your SMTP server by going to Social Boost admin --> Business settings --> SMTP settings.

We use dedicated IP addresses and endeavor to maintain a good reputation for high deliverability of your emails. However, it is crucial that you make use of the following tips to prevent your emails from being flagged as spam and which will consequently impair the reputation of these IP addresses.

Before you read the tips, It is important to note that deliverability results may vary due to different restrictions that email clients, web hosting servers or internet service providers put in place. Often, anti-spam software may be overly sensitive, resulting in false positives. In these cases, there is little we can do to prevent the emails from being flagged as spam.

Note: Also, if you notice that some of your emails are going into spam for some recipients, it does not necessarily mean that this email will go into the spam folder of all your recipients as each ISP, email client and web hosting servers have their own algorithms which in addition look at and adapt as per specific criteria.

Here are some tips to prevent your email from being flagged as spam:

  • Avoid making your emails gimmicky.
  • Avoid the spam or gimmicky words in your emails such as “free”, “guarantee”, “discount”, “offer”, “win”, “prize”, “urgent” “congratulations”, “promise”, “100%”, double your cash, double your income, earn money, “extra cash”, “cash bonus” (generally avoid using the word “cash”, “income” , “promise”), etc.
  • Avoid the use of uppercase words both in your subject line and email body, such as “YOUR FREE OFFER”
  • Avoid special characters (e.g. %, $, &, !!!, ???, @, #) in your subject line. Definitely avoid using exclamation marks.
  • Replace the setcontests.com email address with your email bu going to Settings→ Business Settings→ Sender email address
  • Avoid including excessive links in your email
  • Test all of your links to ensure they are landing on your website correctly and are not broken links or links redirecting to 404 page (page not found)
  • Check for any broken HTML code

Gmail: Promotions folder

In addition to the above, here are some tips to prevent your emails from being assigned to the Promotions folder in Gmail:

  • Try to have no more than one link in your email
  • Send plain text emails rather than graphic emails
  • Avoid using promotional messages and keywords
  • Keep your email short
